I am a Physics M.Sc. student at the Technical University of Munich and currently spending a year at the UHH as a Freemover to write my Master's thesis. I got into climate modelling during my studies and decided to focus on climate and Earth system science during my Erasmus exchange at DTU in Copenhagen. When fellow students of mine recommended Hamburg and the UHH to me, I decided to give it a try – and luckily, Jürgen Bader had a thesis topic for me.
Since April, I have been working on my thesis in Prof. Johanna Baehr’s climate modelling group. My thesis looks at tropical precipitation variability and how it is physically constrained by the atmospheric energetic state in MPI-ESM Holocene simulations.
I am really enjoying my time at the IfM, both the research and the people around me. I have also grown to love Hamburg as a city and can definitely see myself staying here to continue doing research.
