Last week, some of the Climate Modelling group travelled to Reading (UK) to attend the Third International Conference on Subseasonal to Seasonal to Decadal Prediction (S2S2D): Advancing climate predictions from weeks to decades to benefit society.
Plenaries:
- Johanna Baehr: Underestimated Extended Seasonal Hindcast Skill in Sparsely Observed Periods Revealed Through Hybrid Machine-Learning Initialization
- Marlene Klockmann: Local and large-scale atmospheric response to Gulf Stream SST variability with a locally refined, observation-informed ocean grid
Talks:
- Felix Meyer: Machine Learning for Decadal Ocean Prediction - Exploring the Feasibility of Capturing Climate Memory in the Upper Ocean
- Sebastian Brune: Exploring decadal predictability with the global coupled climate model ICON XPP
Posters:
- Meredith Avison: Improving Seasonal Prediction Skill of Heat Extremes in the Central United States through Ensemble Subsampling
- Anna Miesner: Improving Seasonal Predictions of North Sea Storm Surges
- Holger Pohlmann: Assimilation of SST observations in ICON XPP
- Sarah Henze: A seamless co-creative approach to decadal prediction: the Coming Decade Project
