M.Sc. Ocean and Climate Physics

The Institute of Oceanography (IfM) at Universität Hamburg offers an international master program (MSc) in Physical Oceanography and Climate Physics (Flyer). This research oriented four semester program is directed to students with a B.Sc. degree in Physical Oceanography, Meteorology, Geophysics, Physics or an equivalent subject and provides profound knowledge on the physics of the ocean and its role in the climate system. The program starts every year in October.

Application period: If you wish to apply for this program, you will need to do annually between 15 February and 31 March. See further information regarding applications and the requirements here.

Where do I need to ask to check if my enrollment documents arrived safely in Hamburg?

For any information in regards to the official enrollment process the Campus Center needs to be contacted (https://www.uni-hamburg.de/en/campuscenter.html). The Institute of Oceanography can not access this information.

Is it possible to delay my enrollment to next winter semester, while preserving my acceptance letter?

Formally, you have to apply again for next winter semester. But if you state in your motivation letter, that you have already been accepted the year before, the commission will favourably take it into account.

Can I start the program in summer term?

It is not possible to start our MSc program in the summer term. It is only possible to enroll during the winter term
