Arrival

In particular, we would like to point you to the Guide for incoming international students. Here you can find information and help regarding topics like visa regulations, residence registration, opening a bank account, finding insurances in Germany, etc. 

In the Welcome Buddy Program incoming international students can team up with a current Hamburg student who can support the international student's arrival in Hamburg.

German Courses

The University of Hamburg offers German courses for students in cooperation with the Hamburg Adult Education Centre (Volkshochschule). These are intensive courses that take place before the start of lectures or during the semester and are worth 3 ECTS credits each. The recognition of these credits is possible in the Free Elective Area.
