This year the International Conference on Ocean, Offshore & Arctic Engineering (OMAE) is taking place virtually due to the COVID pandemic. OMAE is one of the largest conferences in the field of marine engineering and covers a high spectrum of topics such as risks and reliability, hydrodynamics, ice and wave mechanics, ocean space utilization and many more.
This year, the conference is themed with a topic “Adapting to and Mitigating Climate Change in Marine, Offshore and the Oceans”. The objective is twofold: On the one hand, we seek to address technology and methods that promote emissions reduction. On the other hand, consequences related to climate change are already reality, so that engineering needs to be adjusted. This affects all seaborne elements such as ship and harbor structures, and offshore wind turbines. Each day of the conference is featured with a keynote lecture that is presenting the topic from a different angle.
