Welcome to the IfM-Blog! With this first post, we would like to introduce to you the numerous possibilities that the IfM-Blog has to offer to communicate your adventures in science and beyond. We (Yulia, Céline, Saskia and Manita) are the IfM-Blog organization and writing team, and represent researchers of different career levels and research directions within the IfM. We invite you to join our team with your creativity!
Face-to-face communications, lectures in-presence, discussions with our peers in seminar rooms, catching up with our colleagues in coffee rooms are clearly irreplaceable by virtual meeting platforms. This is where the IfM-Blog steps in and opens up new avenues to share your research, especially during the ongoing pandemic. The institute’s blog is an attempt to bring us closer, keep us up-to-date, and imbibe the much-needed good vibes by sharing the novelties and science-based solutions proposed by our excellent researchers. The purpose of the IfM-Blog is not only to communicate science, but at the same time to also promote our students, lecturers and researchers, and to connect with local and international research communities, as well as the public.
We call for contributions from researchers on spreading the word on the novelties in your research fields. We call for contributions from students on sharing your experiences on what you learned and what inspired you, your creativity and your career choices. We also invite the public to contribute with the topics that you would like our scientists to cover in the next IfM-Blog posts. The IfM consists of an outstanding line of researchers with expertise in experimental and theoretical oceanography, sea ice, remote sensing and data assimilation, marine ecosystems as well as climate modeling and predictions. We are looking forward to sharing this all with you. Come, rekindle your writing skills and tell us what you have been up to all this while, we can’t wait to go for a science ride with you!
Looking forward to receiving your great contributions! Contact us for further details on the blog writing and timeline via blog.ifm"AT"lists.uni-hamburg.de. If you would like to write a blog post, feel free to use this template.
