Main research interests
My main research interests lie in the development of seasonal and decadal climate prediction systems. Basis for the current climate predictions is the ICON XPP (Icosahedral Nonhydrostatic model for Extended Predictions and Projections) Earth system model that is jointly developed with the DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst), the MPI-M (Max Planck Institute for Meteorology) and other institutes in the CAP7 project for the CMIP7 (Coupled Model Intercomparison Project). Climate predictions over the coming seasons are developed in the framework of the Copernicus C3S project and longer predictions in the Coming Decade project in close collaboration with the DWD (Deutscher Wetterdienst) and other institutes.
